Historian for a day

  • Proposal dedicated to all classes
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Cost: suggested donation €3 per child, accompanying teachers free of charge

A journey of discovery of the Museum and what it can tell. The course will lead children to discover the information that a document can offer, so they can reconstruct a historical fact.

Through the activity it is intended to instill curiosity in the children by making sure that they do not stop at simple knowledge of events, but that thanks to these they can reconstruct a piece of the history of their territory. During the visit, the function that a museum can play in guiding the understanding of History will be explained.

The museum offers as a combined activity the workshop “The Suitcase in the Attic”: the aim is, through materials found in a suitcase and with the help of museum staff, to reconstruct a historical event that really happened.

Inside the Trench

Sensory visit to the reconstructed trench present in the museum. You will see the typical environments found on the fronts of our mountains, you will be able to touch the objects that were in the possession of our soldiers, understanding how hard life was at the front. This will be made more realistic by the sounds that could be heard from the trenches.

The museum’s “Life in the Trenches” workshop is offered as a paired activity: the museum staff will take you on a discovery of trench pastimes, from playing cards to singing and cultural exchange between different regions.

How to build a tank?

  • Proposal dedicated to all classes
  • duration: 2 hours
  • cost: €3 per child, accompanying teachers free of charge

Have you ever wondered how to make an armored vehicle? The Museo delle Forze Armate 1914-1945 is the place to go to find out. In 2018 on the occasion of the centenary of the end of the Great War, it was decided to undertake a colossal challenge: the reconstruction of the Fiat 2000, a 40-ton tank. All that remains of this behemoth are a few design drawings, a few photographs and short period footage. It is in fact the first Italian tank built between 1917-1918 by the Fiat company. It never fought in the war but was a pioneer in armored vehicle engineering.

A booklet with the secrets of the Fiat 2000 will be handed out after the guided tour.
